GTA VI Extended Look Hits 31.1 Million Netflix Views in Just Four Days

Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premiered on Netflix on August 27 and generated 31.1 million views before Netflix's weekly measurement period ended on August 30.

That was enough to make the GTA VI showcase Netflix's most-watched title of the week despite being a promotional presentation for an upcoming video game rather than a traditional movie or television series.

The Extended Look was classified on Netflix's English-language film chart and reached the No. 1 position in 87 of the 93 countries tracked by the streaming service.

The scale of the performance demonstrates how Rockstar has turned GTA VI reveals into mainstream entertainment events capable of competing directly with major film and television releases.

Rockstar Games premiered the presentation on Netflix at 3 p.m. ET on August 27 before releasing it through the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and GTA VI website at 9 p.m. ET.

The unusual six-hour exclusivity window gave Netflix the first global showing of the presentation while still allowing Rockstar to distribute the footage widely later the same day.

After the Netflix premiere, Rockstar's official YouTube upload generated more than 17 million additional views within days.

Netflix and YouTube calculate views differently, so the figures should not be treated as directly comparable. Even so, the performance across both platforms illustrates the enormous audience surrounding every major GTA VI reveal.

The Extended Look runs for roughly 27 minutes and was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5. It provides the deepest official look yet at Jason and Lucia, Vice City, the wider state of Leonida and GTA VI's gameplay systems.

Rockstar describes GTA VI as the biggest and most immersive evolution of the Grand Theft Auto series yet.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

With less than three months remaining until release, the Extended Look's enormous Netflix audience provides another indication of the unprecedented level of interest surrounding Rockstar's next open-world blockbuster.
