Xbox’s $900 25th Anniversary Console Is Here — Is It Worth It?

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition immediately stands out because of its translucent OG Green design. Rather than simply adding anniversary branding to a standard console, Xbox has leaned into the visual identity of its original hardware.

Every console is individually numbered with a unique engraving, reinforcing its position as a collector-focused release created specifically to celebrate Xbox’s 25-year history.

One of the biggest additions to the package is a full-game download of Halo: Campaign Evolved.

Xbox describes it as a faithful yet modernized remake of the iconic campaign that helped define the original Xbox experience, making it a fitting inclusion for the anniversary console.

The price is likely to be the biggest talking point. At $899.99 USD, the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition carries a substantial premium and is clearly aimed at collectors and longtime Xbox fans.

The translucent design, individually numbered hardware and included Halo: Campaign Evolved download make the package distinctive, but whether those anniversary extras justify spending nearly $900 will be the key debate for buyers.

The Xbox X25 Special Edition Wireless Controller is also being sold separately. It uses the same translucent OG Green styling and includes nostalgic design details inspired by Xbox’s history.

The controller launches on October 20, giving players a lower-cost way to add the 25th anniversary look to their setup.

Xbox began the pre-order process on August 26 by sending invitations to some of its most dedicated fans.

Wider pre-orders begin August 27 at 7 AM PDT through Xbox and participating retailers in select markets while supplies last. Xbox says purchases of the anniversary collection are limited to one per customer, with pricing and availability varying by region.
