15 Most Anticipated Games of 2027: XGW's Watchlist

SEGA officially lists Crazy Taxi: World Tour for 2027. The new entry takes the series' high-speed passenger-delivery chaos across multiple cities around the world, with PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC among the announced platforms.

It starts our list because the concept is immediately fun and recognizable, but XGW wants to see how much depth and long-term variety the modern World Tour structure adds to the classic arcade formula.

Tripwire Interactive and Demiurge Studios are bringing the ShaRkPG back in 2027. The sequel moves the carnage to Neptune's Kingdom, an ultra-luxury seaside theme park, and is being built in Unreal Engine 5.

Maneater's deliberately ridiculous shark power fantasy still has a unique identity. The sequel earns a place here because a larger, more reactive aquatic sandbox could turn that cult premise into a substantially stronger game.

Undead Labs has now explicitly described State of Decay 3 as a 2027 launch and is expanding closed-beta testing during 2026. The studio says this is its largest map yet and highlights untethered multiplayer, evolving survival systems and community consequences.

The franchise already has a distinctive blend of permadeath, scavenging and settlement management. A larger world and more seamless multiplayer could make the third game the definitive version of that formula.

Xbox currently lists inXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution for 2027. Its steampunk world, first-person RPG structure and time-manipulation premise make it one of the most distinctive new Xbox projects on the calendar.

The biggest question is how deeply altering the past reshapes the present. If those consequences meaningfully affect quests and the world rather than acting as set dressing, this could become one of 2027's standout RPGs.

Archetype Entertainment's science-fiction RPG is scheduled for April 7, 2027. Its central idea of relativistic time dilation means the player's journeys can cause years or decades to pass for the people left behind.

That premise gives Exodus an unusually strong narrative hook. Combined with its large-scale sci-fi world and RPG ambitions, it has the potential to become one of the year's most important new franchises.

Persona 4 Revival is scheduled for February 18, 2027. Atlus is returning to the murder mystery, friendships and supernatural world of Inaba with a modern revival of one of the company's most celebrated RPGs.

The challenge is balance: modernize presentation and usability without losing the atmosphere and character relationships that made Persona 4 special.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches February 12, 2027. It is a ground-up reimagining of Lara Croft's original 1996 adventure rather than the same project as Tomb Raider: Catalyst.

Revisiting Lara's beginning with modern exploration, puzzles and combat gives Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog an opportunity to bridge classic Tomb Raider design with the expectations of a current-generation adventure.

Metro 2039 launches February 4, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The return to post-apocalyptic Moscow introduces a new protagonist, The Stranger, while preserving the oppressive atmosphere and survival-driven identity associated with Metro.

With its release date locked and substantial gameplay already shown, Metro 2039 feels less hypothetical than many late-2027 projects. That puts it firmly inside XGW's top five.

Tomb Raider: Catalyst is Crystal Dynamics' all-new Lara Croft adventure for 2027, separate from Legacy of Atlantis. Set across Northern India after a mythical cataclysm, it is being built in Unreal Engine 5 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.

Crystal Dynamics calls it the largest Tomb Raider world yet. A new story, a huge environment and a focus on tombs, puzzles, exploration and customizable adventure technology make Catalyst one of XGW's biggest 2027 wild cards.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches April 8, 2027 and concludes Square Enix's Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy. The Highwind expands world traversal, while new systems include FITS combat roles, dynamic character switching and additional quest choices.

The gameplay ambition alone is significant, but Revelation also carries the responsibility of resolving a trilogy that has spent years reinterpreting one of gaming's most famous stories. That makes it one of 2027's defining releases.

Fable officially launches February 23, 2027. The reboot returns to Albion with an open world shaped by player choices, reputation, melee, ranged and magical combat, and the series' characteristic dark humor.

A modern Fable has been awaited for years. If Playground Games can preserve the personality of the original series while delivering the scale expected from a current flagship RPG, it could become one of the generation's biggest Xbox releases.

God of War Laufey launches February 16, 2027 exclusively on PS5. Santa Monica Studio's next mainline God of War entry follows Faye after her death as she awakens in the Everywhen, an afterlife where gods from across mythologies compete for power.

This is no longer a speculative God of War project: Sony has confirmed the title, protagonist, premise, gameplay direction and release date. A new playable lead, a mythology-spanning setting and the weight of the modern God of War series make Laufey XGW's current most anticipated game of 2027.
